MPV debut EP, In Lust We Trust
MPV
Born from the rustbelt gods of War and Beauty come three individuals, five X chromosomes, smoldering riffs, and more grit than an auto shop. This two-thirds female trio nod to the grunge and Riot Grrrl bands of the 90s, but add a blues sensibility and warm harmonies that are a legacy of their Detroit surroundings. You’d be hard pressed not to hear the inspirations from bands like Nirvana, L7, The Breeders or the White Stripes in their songs.
MPV is Elise McCoy on guitar and lead vocals, Valerie Klaft on drums and backing vocals, and John Missig on bass and backing vocals. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, MPV banded together 7 years ago, sharing a passion for guitar-driven rock.
“There’s no better feeling in this world than performing for people who understand you and feel you. That connection between band and fan exists in Detroit in ways that I can’t explain. We are lucky to be a part of that.”
Outstanding musicianship is a standard in the ranks of MPV – Valerie and John make up the powerful rhythm section while Elise McCoy, the band’s main songwriter, writes about love and lust and all the good (and bad) in between. McCoy’s voice seamlessly moves between soft-spoken and soothing to raw and biting. MPV play hard and party hard, and it is impossible to see their dynamic live show without being swept up in their passion and enthusiasm. This has given them a strong and loyal local following in the Midwest and beyond. In Lust We Trust, their first official recording, features 4 studio tracks that capture the raw energy of their live show. The EP is available on Original 1265 Recordings, via Caroline Distribution worldwide.
